Masculine Birthday card

I don’t know if you have this problem, but sometimes I have the hardest time making cards for the guys in my family. It’s painful… I enjoy making cute projects, so when I need to make something for them, I often struggle. Today’s card came about while working on a challenge over on Splitcoaststampers. “ShoeGirl” posted a challenge to use a small shaped die or punch to create a repeated design. I pulled out a hexagon shaped die set (Simon Says Stamp) and went to town cutting hexagons in a few neutral tones.

Once the hexagons were adhered to a white card base, I ran the panel through my Gemini, Jr. with an embossing folder. This helps the pieces adhere even better to the card stock and really works to visually tie it all together. I won’t lie, it took a while due to the way I alternated the colors, but it was so worth it. I’m looking forward to making a few more of these for the special people on my list.

To finish the card, I added a simple stamped sentiment (say that 3 times, fast) onto a piece of bright white card stock. After trimming the main panel with a rectangle stitched die, I added the sentiment strip along with a narrow strip of silver foil card underneath just for a little extra ‘somethin’. One last little note: this card is a great way to use up scraps of paper!
