This week’s sketch at Splitcoaststampers is a layout for a square card. I was seriously tempted to tweak it and make an A2 (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″) but challenged myself to go square. Dare to be square 😉

When I first saw the sketch and began imagining including a window for a sentiment, I only knew that I wanted to make the card suitable for a man. I pulled the patterned paper first then started flipping through my dies of animals for ideas. I came across this deer and immediately thought of a verse from Psalm 42, “As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.”

The finished card is a tri-fold with a round window allowing the sentiment on the 2nd panel to peek through. To create something similar, simply cut your card base 3-1/2″ by 10-1/2″ and score at 3-1/2″ and 7″. Fold the outer flaps in towards the center and you are ready to decorate! (Tip: Cut a tiny sliver off the right end if the folded card feels bulky.) Your completed card is only 3 1/2″ square which will still allow it to fit in a standard A2 envelope for easy mailing.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed seeing this card and are inspired to spend some time creating today.
