SSS Lined Leaves – thanks greeting card

Last night I fell asleep to the wonderful sound of rain. In my area at this time of year, that typically means the weather might be a smidge cooler the next day. Well… as we said in the 80s – psych! (Translation – it was a trick… it’s still hot!)

At least in the craft room it can be any season you like! With autumn in my heart, I brought out the Lined Leaves stamp set (Simon Says Stamp) and heat embossed two leaves and the sub-sentiment. I started with paper but, after coloring them in, wasn’t convinced I liked it. On round 2, I tried again on vellum. After debating and letting my coffee embolden me, I used the vellum strip for the sentiment with a tiny strip of white behind it to make sure the words are easily read. For the leaves, I used both layered over each other. I love how the vellum adds softness but still allows for vibrant color.

These were all layered over my main panel cut with stitched border and a “thanks” dies. I love how they allow the patterned paper covering the card base to peek through. Hmm… maybe I should have titled this card “Leef Peeper”? 😬

Thanks for stopping by today. Before you go – one last (but best) thing: the layout for this card is based on this week’s sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. For more ideas and inspiration or to play along, be sure to visit them there. Enjoy!

  1. I love how you’ve shown the plaid layer as a border and peeking behind the die-cut sentiment. And the white strip behind the sentiment on the vellum is genius! I feel like I’ve learned so much after seeing this card! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!
