Coloring with pencils vs coloring with Copic markers

Do you have a favorite coloring method for stamped images? For me, I really enjoy using Copic markers because the colors blend so well and stay so vibrant. I think the other reason, however, is that it simply doesn’t take as long as color pencils! I’m trying to learn to use pencils more because they travel so easy and don’t occupy much space. But 😳 – coloring with them requires more patience – move too fast and wax will “bloom”, quickly defying any attempts to add more color or shading! Patience, young Padawan!

The cards below both feature these adorable Birdy Brown images from Sending Sweet Celebration Wishes by My Favorite Things. The penguin was colored with Prismacolor pencils (sweat and patience) and the fox with Copic markers. I’d love to hear your preference and why… help a girl out, would ya? 😬

slow and low, that is the tempo… for coloring with pencils (and BBQ) <-words for life! 🙂

My photo editing is also a work-in-progress. Her little arms are not so white IRL and there’s a sweet blushed cheek, too. To finish the card, I layered her over a dry-embossed piece of vanilla cardstock, trimmed with eggplant card stock and epoxy drops for additional color.

Colored with Copic Markers and finished off with a few gold sequins!

Same layout and dry-embossed background for our little fox. I simply changed out the colored cardstock to coordinate with the gift and added sequins. Both super-cute and ready to mail to someone for their special day!
