Tropical Chic birthday

A coworker will be enjoying her birthday this week and I thought I would make her a bright and cheery greeting to celebrate. The color palatte is based on color challenge #550 by Just Add Ink; it’s just right for these tropical images!

Using colors from my supplies closest to the challenge colors, I started by using a blending tool to add a light pink to the white panel behind the focal images, then used a brighter red to stamp the hibiscus flowers. Shaded Spruce was a nice bold touch for the palm fronds and I found a strip of patterned paper in my stash in similar colors to help ground them all. To finish it off, these are all layered with a die cut ‘you’ and pre-printed sentiment from Simon Says Stamp along with a few carefully tucked gems.

Note: To give the die cut palm fronds a little extra detail, I blended in a bit more color towards the middle. Even though I started with the same color cardstock, it added some depth towards the center of each frond.

Thanks for stopping by!
