Like a lot of crafters, I have started making Christmas cards but I’m not quite ready to give up on fall or flowers quite yet. When I noticed this sketch (CTS), I thought it the perfect opportunity to create a happy any-day greeting card.
To create this card I first cut down the white and light blue card stock and joined them together on the back with a piece of tape. Then I was able to stamp and heat emboss the wreath image before coloring it in. I used Copics and it was neat to see how the same colors look slightly different on the colored card stock. I was careful not to run the markers over the heat embossing but there was a spot or two where the marker did go over the white embossed lines. It didn’t rub off as a water based ink would do, but it did erase easily with the 0 Copic marker (aka blender).
I rifled through my embellishment drawer and found these beautiful copper leaves and coordinating copper thread. A few gemstones (just because I can’t resist) and voila! It’s done! Hope you like it!
Here’s the original sketch. As you can see, I changed it up just a little bit to follow my own whimsy. To play along or see great ideas, be sure the visit the CTS site. Let’s show these teams we appreciate their inspiration 🙂
